It has become an annual tradition for the family to converge on the Durham Ox from various parts of Yorkshire. The food is excellent - a mix of traditional, with some twists (e.g. the excellent beetroot felafel) - with service to match. A really cosy pub, deservedly popular."

Excellent Private Birthday Lunch
We had a private birthday lunch for some 50 guests in the Ox Barn.
The food was very good and acclaimed as such by all.
This was a remarkable achievement for 50+ all ordering (albeit in advance) a variety of food (not a set meal). There were no complaints of food being late, cold, etc. all too common at big events.
The staff were friendly and entered into the spirit of the occasion and the service was very good.
There were many positive comments about the selected wine (NZ SB and Rioja Crianza) - the latter better than many Gran Reserva I have tasted elsewhere.

We couldn’t wait to return for the Ox where we’ve had a couple of meals including the fab Sunday lunch an extension of a few days away in Richmond area.
This ime it was for the Sunday Supper Club. Over night stay in the amazing Green room,very tastefully decorated. We started with a couple of drinks on our terrace overlooking the Howardian Hills . Then onto dinner in the Ox ! Three course meal, bottle of recommended Lovely Gavi wine ,chocolates more drinks ! Phew so full we couldn’t move for hours back in the room despite a short walk with the dog haha .. the Supper club is £225 for food per room,which basically comes free! Whether you eat and drink to that amount or go over and pay what you owe extra ! It is fabulous ! Lovely staff especially the lady who brought our dinner to us each course.. oh and breakfast is included too if you can eat it after all that the night before,including champagne or bucks fizz and bloody Mary’s!
